The number of students eligible for special first aid attention is quite small, and they are typically children with developmental problems. Most special pediatric departments are located inside big hospitals, where first aid and child care specialists work with the usual healthcare system. The outcome for such children is generally excellent, with few exceptions. A thorough screening is a key step of the medical part of any student’s preparation. Special educators have discussed in their responses to the EuroEVS and Placement exams whether they believe that the screening procedure for children could be improved. The BIG Society team will be happy to provide the same opportunity to our partners and to other stakeholders, in order to stimulate the discussion on affordable personalized learning for all students.
eLearning is a tool that aids in our ability to equip teachers and students with the skills and knowledge they need to positively impact learning in the classroom, at school, and across their lifetime. Today, the technology available to educators and learners has greatly increased our ability to teach, learn, and share in new and exciting ways. This technology has informed and improved our practice, creating opportunities and challenges for teachers and students alike and introducing students to new and exciting opportunities for engagement and learning. Though the transition from traditional way of teaching and learning to eLearning is an enormous leap, it is exciting to see the progress and changes that are being made. Some schools have begun this transition with older generations, such as elementary schools, while California's largest school district is also taking an active role in this process.
The Institute for Mathematics & Science Education (IMSE) is the first of the institutes sponsored by the National Science Foundation to focus on engineering and mathematical literacy for both students and teachers. IMSE engages mathematicians, scientists, and engineers to study and design instruction that better prepare students for life after high school. These studies have led to curriculum guidelines, instructional materials, and classroom models that teachers are using across the country to teach K-12 mathematics. IMSE is now extending its research and outreach into engineering, and the new Student Engagement in Mathematics and Science (SEMAS) program will actively encourage elementary school teachers and students to incorporate engineering knowledge into their math and science curricula. In addition, the program will actively encourage continued student and teacher engagement, and promote professional development. d2c66b5586
